Training Objectives - July 14, 2008

Joint Information Center (JIC) Training

At the end of this training, participants will:

  • Receive basic guidance in how to set up, staff, and manage a Joint Information Center (JIC) with local, state, federal, private and non-governmental Response Partners during any emergency response incident.
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Public Information Officer (PIO), Deputy and Assistant PIO, and JIC Manager under the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
  • Be prepared to obtain Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) certification for completing NIMS IS-702 (Public Information Systems) training.
